Question 1: What are the elements of the self-monitoring system demonstrated in the video?

The students began working independently on an assignment and when completed, the teacher announced that everyone may put a checking for working quietly marking. She also draws one name out each morning and if that person is working on task when she checks, the entire class earns a green mark. I think that is an incentive to get each student to work independently. I also like how she has the timer that says "too infinite and beyond" to allow the teacher to positively reward students.

Question 2: What student behaviors do you see that indicate positive student engagement with the self-monitoring plan?

It seemed as though all the students were focused on their work during the quiet time. I saw students were busy writing, asking the teacher questions, or patiently waiting for their teacher to come and check their work. I did not notice any students off task or doing inappropriate behaviors during the quiet worktime.
